Home / Industrial & Commercial Flowmeter
Overview
From bulk fuel depots and chemical plants to workshop oil systems and mobile service trucks, industrial and commercial operations depend on accurate flow measurement to control costs, maintain quality, and meet safety and compliance requirements. RAZQUIP supplies positive displacement flow meters engineered for the demanding conditions found across Australian industry — high flow rates, viscous fluids, hazardous environments, and continuous-duty operation.
Our range covers flow rates from under 1 L/min for precision dosing through to 500+ L/min for bulk tank transfers, with meter bodies in aluminium, stainless steel 316, and cast iron to suit the fluid and environment. All meters deliver ±0.5% accuracy with full PLC/SCADA integration capability.
Unlike turbine or electromagnetic meters, PD meters measure actual volume regardless of flow rate fluctuations, fluid viscosity, or pump pulsations — making them the right choice for the diverse applications found in Australian industry.
Key Applications
Batching & Filling
Measure precise quantities into containers, tanks, or process vessels. Automated fill-to-volume with pulse output to batch controllers and PLCs. IBCs, drums, and tankers with ±0.5% accuracy.
Dosing & Chemical Injection
Precision dosing of chemicals, additives, and treatment fluids in water treatment, mining, agriculture, and food processing. High turndown ratios for micro-litre level injection.
Oil Blending & Lubricant Manufacturing
Meter each component to tight tolerances in blending plants. Handles wide viscosity ranges from thin base stocks to heavy gear oils. Multi-stream blending with automated ratio control.
Tank Transfer & Inventory
Auditable records for every fluid movement between storage tanks, tankers, rail cars, and ships. Supports inventory reconciliation, loss detection, and custody transfer.
Hazardous Area (ATEX / IECEx)
ATEX and IECEx certified electronics for Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive atmosphere classifications. Intrinsically safe outputs with Ex-rated barriers for fuel depots, refineries, and chemical plants.
Workshop Oil & Fuel Transfer
Track engine oil, hydraulic fluid, gear oil, and diesel dispensed in workshops and fleet maintenance bays. Wall-mounted and hose reel meters for accurate job costing and stock management.
AdBlue (DEF) Dispensing
Stainless steel 316 wetted parts fully compatible with AdBlue. Resists the crystallisation and corrosion that destroys conventional fuel meters used in DEF service for SCR emission systems.
Lubrication Skid Systems
Verify metered quantities of grease, oil, or cutting fluid to multiple lubrication points on machinery and production lines. Alarm on under- or over-delivery to prevent bearing failures.
Service Trucks & Mobile Equipment
Track fluid dispensed from field service trucks on mine sites, construction projects, and farms. Battery-powered digital meters with ticket printers for accurate billing and maintenance records.
Industrial fuel transfer operation — positive displacement flow meters ensure accurate measurement at every point in the supply chain.
Why Positive Displacement Meters?
PLC, SCADA & IoT Integration
Our meters provide the output signals needed to integrate with your existing control and monitoring infrastructure.
Universal standard for PLC and SCADA. Real-time process control, trending, and alarm management.
Multi-drop networks — dozens of meters reporting to a single controller or DCS over one cable.
Configurable pulses per volume for batch controllers, flow computers, and totaliser displays.
Direct valve, pump, and alarm control in batch and dosing applications without a separate PLC.
Pair with industrial IoT gateways and cellular loggers for remote monitoring of unmanned sites and distributed fuel systems.
Fluid Compatibility
Selecting the right meter body and seal material is essential for safe, reliable operation.
Aluminium Body
Standard for diesel, petrol, kerosene, heating oil, and hydraulic fluids. Lightweight and cost-effective for most fuel and oil applications.
Stainless Steel 316
Required for AdBlue, mild chemicals, food-grade fluids, corrosive environments, and pharmaceutical applications.
Cast Iron Body
Heavy-duty for high-pressure, high-flow industrial installations handling crude oil, heavy fuel oil, and industrial lubricants.
Seal Options
Viton (fuels/oils), PTFE (chemicals), EPDM (water-based/AdBlue), and Kalrez (aggressive solvents, high temperatures).
Choosing the Right Industrial Flow Meter
| Fluid Type & Viscosity | Determines meter body material, seal material, and whether heating or insulation is needed. |
| Flow Rate Range | Match min/max flow to your operating range. Oversizing wastes accuracy; undersizing causes pressure drop. |
| Connection Size | DN6 (1/4") to DN100 (4") in BSP, NPT, and flanged connections to suit your pipework. |
| Hazardous Area | ATEX or IECEx rated electronics required for classified zones. |
| Output Requirements | Mechanical register, digital display, 4–20 mA for PLC, or RS485 Modbus for SCADA networks. |
| Pressure & Temperature | Standard for ambient-temperature applications. High-pressure and high-temp variants available for process industry. |
Frequently Asked Questions
What accuracy can I expect?
±0.5% accuracy of reading across the calibrated flow range. Meters can be individually calibrated on actual process fluid for custody transfer. Factory calibration certificate included.
Can PD meters handle viscous fluids like heavy oil or grease?
Yes. PD meters actually become more accurate with higher viscosity. Routinely used from 0.5 cP (light solvents) through to 100,000 cP (heavy grease). Heated meter bodies available for very viscous fluids.
Are your meters suitable for hazardous areas?
Yes. ATEX and IECEx certified electronics for Zone 1 and Zone 2 classifications. Intrinsically safe outputs connect to Ex-rated barriers. Mechanical register options also available.
Can I use a fuel meter for AdBlue?
No. Standard aluminium meters will corrode rapidly. AdBlue requires stainless steel 316 wetted parts with EPDM or PTFE seals. Using wrong materials causes meter failure and fluid contamination.
What maintenance is required?
PD meters are low-maintenance. Primary requirement is upstream filtration to protect internal elements. Seals may need replacement after several years in chemical or high-temperature applications.
